Westborough, MA-based Swatchbox is hiring a VP of Engineering. Swatchbox Technologies vreates virtual design tools for home improvement. London's CrowdStorm says it has gained funding for its social shopping site and is looking for a CTO. They will pay you 40K BP or thereabouts. The company is led by CEO Philip Wilkinson who was founder at Kelkoo UK. The site is up and going.

Its VP of products is former Forrester analyst Chris Charon. A Palo Alto-based statup in stealth mode is looking to hire several people including a VP for BD. They want someone who has contacts with local advertising, local search, and ecommerce companies. This is a maps mashup that promises to help people to get to know their neighbors better. So they want previous experience integrating Google Maps, Microsoft Virtual Earth, mashups, creating social networks, and Web 2.0 experience. Compensation is not bad at: $150K to $175K.

If you haven't bumped into StumbleUpon, its a browser tool bar that puts community into Web surfing. Text ads are the biz model.

The start-up is Calgary-born. by StumbleUpon founders Garrett Camp, Geoff Smith and Justin LaFrance. It recently raised $2M in angel funding from Google board member Ram Shriram, Ariel Poler, Lotus founder Mitch Kapor and angel investor Ron Conway.

The company wants 2 Web devs: "We are particularly interested in people who have experience with collaborative filtering, text analysis, genetic algorithms and bayesian networks."

Whether are not you are actively in the job market, you know that will probably be asked for your resume again. Why not put it online using Emerse and then update it as necessary? You know the next time you need your resume a) its going to be a hassle to find the latest version and b) you are going to have to waste some hours on the weekend to update it.

The Boorah people of Palo Alto are in stealth mode and won't give you much more than a peak a their logo. They will tell you:

"We are an early stage startup focused on creating an Internet Vertical website that blends community and social networking elements with the latest technology advances in web. The goal is to become ‘the destination’ on the Internet for this very focused vertical. Our proprietary semantic search and correlation algorithms will incorporate community network feedback to enrich the user search results and provide a dramatic improvement to existing services in the market place."

Plus, they claim the un-named founders are Internet Mucky-mucks. We checked their blog and they do seem obsessed with GPS, but who knows what vertical Boorah wants to sit on top of.
