COO For Mumbai Based Video Startup Founded By Rediff Founder

Ajit Balakrishnan who founded Indian online portal Rediff.com (NASDAQ: REDF) has been in the news lately over speculation that Yahoo, Google and AOL or bidding to buy Rediff.

Today we learn that is building a new un-named startup. "The model will attempt to create a disruption in the TV industry using contemporary internet technologies." The startup is based in Mumbai and has already hired 15 people with experience in digital video.

Balakrishnan is looking to hire a COO to run the show for him.

Narrowstep has built what they call a television operating systems. It processes commercial TV over IP. They are on a hiring binge and need ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript and SQL developers.
Narrowstep is the leading developer of TV over the Internet using our Television Operating System (telvOS™), which is regarded as the de facto standard for building, running and commercializing 24 x 7 TV over IP services. The company went public in the US in May 2005 and will shortly begin trading on the OTC market.

There are a number of roles open, in addition to strong ASP.NET, SQL and C#, there are varying specialties invited including advanced JavaScript, CSS and cross-browser support, scripted Flash and Flex, Windows Presentation Foundation and XAML.

Requirements

• Excellent C#, SQL Server and ASP.NET with a minimum of two years in depth experience
• Familiarity with Visual Developer Studio and expertise in the .NET Framework are essential, preferably .Net 2.0
• Solid JavaScript and CSS
• Knowledge and experience of Windows Media SDK an advantage

Cambridge's Maven Raises $12M More For Video Expansion

Maven Networks has raised a lot of VC dollars quickly. Why not? The net video market is torrid. The startup just announced that it had raised $12Min Series C funding led by Prism Venture Partners with existing investors Accel Partners and General Catalyst Partners which brings the total amount of financing to $30M

The company's founder and CEO Hilmi Ozguc, has been around the block in rich Internet media and then some. He founded Maven in 20002. He previously founded Narrative Communications, which raised $13M and was bought by @Home Network in 1999 for $100M.

Maven has taken on some sweet clients including 20th Century Fox, A&E, Disney, National Geographic Channel, Pepsi, Nike, and Sony Pictures. It is known for Nike's Joga TV campaign.
