Suspicious Hawaiian Start-up Needs CTO - Book-em Dan-O

We had a really lousy run-in with a Hawaiian tech start-up back in the day -- you don't want to know. So this search for a "brilliant CTO" by a stealth-mode, well funded Hawaiian start-up freaks us out. The start-up describes itself in these vague terms: "innovative service enables cross platform media delivery and management in a way that fits seamless [sic] with each user’s lifestyle." This company may be legit, but if the principals had anything to do with WorldPoint Interactive and have any connection to the Swiss financier Massimo Fuchs or the plastic surgeon Dr. Bob, we recommend you run for you life.

Build Out Rotten Tomatoes' Site

In a recent entourage episode, one of the characters was the writer for a movie review blog who made the stars' skin crawl with the power of his blog. We suspect this was based on Rotten Tomatoes which gets sick traffic.

Rotten Tomatoes needs a Web developer in its Emeryville, CA office. It seems like a find job. The glamor of Hollywood without having to live there. The allure of a startup + ownership by News Corp. (via IGN ownership).

Perhaps only the Internet Movie Database Gets More Traffic Within the Movie Category

NY Observer Seeks Online VP/GM

nyobserver logo.jpg The New York Observer is looking for someone to head up their online division. We understand that management at this quirky NY print newspaper is quirky itself. However, there seems like plenty of upside here. Traffic to the site today is very low in contrast to NY blogs like Gothamist. The paper has a loyal audience and there is no reason why this cannot translate online.

Ariana Huffington: Rich Lady W/$5M F/Softbank To Hire in LA/NYC 4 Her Blog

ariana.jpg

HuffPost Gets Mad Traffic

Softbank's recent $5M investment in Huffington Post is a bit controversial. Why does the company need the money? What kind of return can VCs really expect? What happens when the internet ad market comes back down to earth? Who cares if you are employed there and the company is conservative with its cash - but that remains to be seen. PE Wire which has seen the company's financials says it is not yet profitable. With all the hires HuffPost is making that is going to make it even harder.

If we were young and really into media, HuffPost would be a fun place to work we think. But is it the smartest place to get a good return on stock? Absolutely not.

The Top Tech Job In Sacto

sacbee.jpg If you are tired of the Bay Area's prices or want to be closer to the Tahoe slopes, why not run the SacBee.com? Granted you would be working for The Man. The SacBee's old school ways would drive most crazy, plus it is owned by McClatchy so you'd have a lot of levels of bosses.

But Sacramento is on the rise and its not as bad as its reputation. You might even might the Governator on the job.
