Products VP For SF's Green Co. Terrapass

terrapass.png
Terrapass just announced that it had pulled in the former CEO of Expedia to be its CEO. The company has raised $500K from angels but with the new boss, we expect funding will be much less of an issue. The company enables people to ensure that their travel, weddings and more are eco-friendly. Given the current interest in global warming and passion by some people to set an example, Terrapass would seem to not only be a sound startup but a rewarding one as well.

Reno Alt Energy Start-up Needs Mktng VP

Reno is a dump but it is nice and close to the slopes if you are into that. The un-named alt energy start-up says you must be open to relocating there a few months down the road. But at first, you'll be able to work virtually and commute to make sure you agree it's a fit.

The company claims a "patented alternative wind energy product that is far less expensive and takes up much less space than traditional propeller wind energy equipment. With low-cost construction, safe design and clean lines, it is ideal for the private residential market as well as commercial enterprises, perfectly supplementing or replacing solar energy by harnessing the power of wind."

They're looking for a spring 2007 launch, and so are ready to add a marketing professional to the team as soon as possible.

Sun Gods Wanted At Palo Alto's SolFocus

solfocus logo.pngSolFocus today secured $25M Series A out of $32M led by New Enterprise Associates for its solar concentrator photovoltics. If you don't know what are SCPs are know why they are important, don't bother applying.

Is solar risky. How do you chose the right solar start-up to run with? There are a number of well-funded solar start-ups crowding silicon valley these days. However, it doesn't appear that there will be a winner take all. There are so many possible solar applications from high rises to condos to cars that most of these can find a niche.
