Marketing VP For Controversial, VC-backed PayPerPost. Must Move To Orlando.

payperpost.png

You might have heard of PayPerPost. They marry sponsors with Bloggers who agree to blog for money. Critics have called it Payola and say its bad for blogging.

We like that fact that PayPerPost is honest in its recruiting posts: "Before you read any further please visit our website http://www.payperpost.com, our blog and do a search on YouTube and Google for PayPerPost to see what we are all about. Seriously. Go. Now.

Whewww. You made it back. That means you're not afraid to brave the critics and you believe in the concept as much as we do. All of that noise out there is without a VP of Marketing. Imagine what we could do if you came on board!"

VP, Corporate Development and Strategy for NYC's Ad Network Tacoda

tacoda.png
Tacoda has been ramping up with a lot of new faces and seems to need one last VP, for now. Tacoda and they had great publishers to back it up. It has deals with more than 4,000 Web sites reaching more than 118M unique visitors per month (ComScore, October 2006). Major media partners include The New York Times, NBC Universal, Hoovers, HGTV, Food Network, Cars.com and Tribune Interactive.

Still the company always seemed a bit lite in terms of management bench and marketing. It has really made in-roads in the past year to change that. Last summer it brought on Curt Viebranz as CEO, moving founder Dave Taylor to Chairman. Since then the company has been on a hiring tear. Viebranz was President of HBO International and Time Multimedia.

Now Tacoda raised $7M in Series D funding. Return backers include Rho Ventures, Masthead Venture Partners, Hanseatic Americas and Union Square Ventures.

The company has strong competition from Blue Lithium and Tribal Fusion and of course Google but that doesn't seem to have hampered growth much.

Send your resume with a cover letter and salary requirements to resumes@tacoda.com with the job title in the subject line.

This is a big job. As we have posted on the a:c recently, LA's Spotrunner recently raised $40M from one of Rupert Murdoch's son as well as WPP, CBS, Interpublic Group, Allen & Co. Tudor Investment.

As we noted: "Spot Runner provides fairly high quality TV advertising templates that could be used by thousands of business types. The local business owner then just inserts their logo and messaging to localize the ad. They then use Spot Runner to buy local advertising. In the process, production costs then go from tens of thousands of dollars down to a few hundred bucks. Of all the broadcasting companies that we have seen in recent years, Spot Runner is the first that has a shot at becoming the Google of TV ads."

If you like LA and like Spotrunner but don't fit the bill, they have a while mess of other jobs so check their job site.

Quigo Annointed As The Next GOOG

We first profiled Quigo two years ago and we've been keeping an eye on their growth. In fact, our write-up of Quigo is the first post we ever delivered! We think Quigo is on to something good, so were weren't too surprised to see the dreamy coverage from CNN/Money earlier in the week which sported the headline: Quigo: The next Google?

What start-up wouldn't kill for that coverage? If there's any truth to that headline, get yer asses over to the Qugio job listings page and try to get in on the big win. They currently have a smattering of jobs in marketing, engineering, and sales. Quigo has offices in New York City and San Jose, CA.

Big Revenue/Big Law Suit Webloyalty Hiring BD VP In Norwalk, CT

webloyaty logo.gif
As we just reported over on the a:c online coupon firm just got slapped with a class action law suite charging that the firm broke privacy and credit card laws by taking charges made on marketing partner Fandango and ringing up those clients with Webloyalty's $10 monthly charge. That sounds ugly. On the other hand, the General Atlantic-backed firm boasts that it posted $108M in revenues last year.

Webloyalty currently has an open req for a Regional VP of Business Development working out of Norwalk, CT.

SF's Topica Needs Mktng Veep, On Down

topica_logo_top.gif
Topica has been around for ages - 1998. The start-up is backed by Highland Capital, August Capital, and TLCom. The company currently lists a VP of marketing, so we assume she is on the outs. It lists another dozen positions.

Given Topica's focus on online advertising it should be doing gang-busters, but something tells us that Topica is struggling, so if you interview, give the tires a couple of kicks.

Like Movies? Work for IMDB

Amazon.com-owned IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) is looking to staff-up. IMDB is a different beast from eCommerce focused Amazon. IMDB only makes money via advertising, so the positions that it is looking to fill are in ad sales.

We are impressed with the content additions that IMDB has made and its traffic is great. Clearly the company has not languished since mighty Amazon took ownership. For example, IMDB has a resume section where film industry workers can create their home pages. And it is now reviewing games and TV shows as well as offering show times and ticket sales.

Relocation to Seattle is required for its Senior Ad Sales position. Amazon's HR started looking to fill the position in Mid June, but have not found the right fit and are looking again now.
