COO For Mumbai Based Video Startup Founded By Rediff Founder
Ajit Balakrishnan who founded Indian online portal Rediff.com (NASDAQ: REDF) has been in the news lately over speculation that Yahoo, Google and AOL or bidding to buy Rediff.
Today we learn that is building a new un-named startup. "The model will attempt to create a disruption in the TV industry using contemporary internet technologies." The startup is based in Mumbai and has already hired 15 people with experience in digital video.
Balakrishnan is looking to hire a COO to run the show for him.

The current team consists of 15 employees who have deep understanding and experience in digital video processing, media and product development.
Key Responsibilities:
As a COO, you will drive the P&L of this company. You will lead a team of highly skilled and passionate young people towards the set goals
You will be responsible for integrating the strategic plan of the organization with the operations. You will conceptualize and execute the strategy for growth, focusing on partner strategy and content acquisition strategy. Be the public face of the company, evangelize the company and handle media relations.
Requirements:
12+ years of relevant experience as senior leader in media industry. Would prefer additional exposures across varied industries like Telecom, FMCG and content distribution.
Should have deep contacts and understanding of media distribution
Should have a passion for operational excellence and should be driven by a sense of urgency and desire to achieve world-class performance on all relevant customer service, operational, and financial metrics.
Should be able to anticipate and develop proactive strategies in response to changes in the industry.
Should have an understanding of technology, internet industries and stay abreast of broad technological, social, governmental, economic, and industry developments and lead the company to address opportunities and challenges as they arise.
