Other than FaceBook, we think that LinkedIn may be the most valuable social networking business around. They are looking for a VP of Network ops. Given that everyone expects them to open their system to others, this seems like a very complex gig.

LinkedIn, the largest and fastest growing professional network in the world is looking for the right candidate to become our VP, Network Operation.
As part of the executive team the right candidate will be overseeing all aspects of the operations life cycle, across the corporate data centers as well as regional branch. We are looking for a technical leader with experience in overseeing and managing technical operations, driving new capability and improvement projects, process excellence, managing and building new relationships with internal and external partners, and building team spirit. This person will report to the CEO.
Responsibilities
• Managing and overseeing a team and vendors to manage, monitor, and improve the network infrastructure, and servers.
• Managing the current and next-generation 24/7 network infrastructure, data center, and all other relevant infrastructure technologies, including voice telecommunications
• Drive new processes, systems and tools to streamline, improve and extend the quality of user-related support services across the company
• Working with the architecture/engineering team to design, develop, implement and improve new data center and technical services
• Guiding and managing all technical operations projects, including upgrades and new application projects
• Confirming quality standards, satisfaction of stated business requirements and on-time, on-budget delivery of milestones and deliverables
• Driving for consistent, effective, and repeatable technical operation practices for all team members globally
• Managing infrastructure and technical tools and processes to support security management, network monitoring, capacity planning
Experience:
• Must have broad, enterprise-class technical knowledge in areas of software application development, networking/telecom, technical operations, engineering collaboration tools, information security, and business process architecture. Experience managing 24x7 complex operations and managing demanding requirements for after-hours project work.
• BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Position requires minimum of 10 years related professional experience, with 3 years in a VP-level experience
