Home Decor Software's Swatchbox Needs VP Engineering
Westborough, MA-based Swatchbox is hiring a VP of Engineering. Swatchbox Technologies vreates virtual design tools for home improvement. Customers include: Alcoa, Armstrong, Benjamin Moore, Dupont, Hearst, HGTV, Kohler, Lowe’s and Whirlpool. The company is also building some groundbreaking tools that will be offered on its own websites directly to homeowners. Swatchbox is privately funded.

Swatchbox is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead our technical team and participate on the executive leadership team. The VP of Engineering will be responsible both for product development—building our Internet-based product offerings—and for service delivery—managing customization projects for business customers. The company seeks candidates with the managerial ability to operationalize current activities, the leadership ability to grow a team and establish a technology roadmap for future growth, and an entrepreneurial spirit to dig in and do what’s required to successfully grow the company.
Responsibilities
The VP of Engineering will be the senior technical person within the company with a range of responsibilities:
- Lead a growing team of software developers working in .NET, SQL, ActionScript, Flash and Web Services
- Participate on the executive management team on corporate strategy; interact with advisory board and other external constituents
- Establish and manage internal technical infrastructure, development environment and business processes
- Manage all aspects of external hosting, including relationship with provider and business processes to support the performance and availability of hosted applications
- Work with sales and project managers to create proposals, specs and project plans
- When necessary, write code!
Eligibility Requirements
- Computer Science background
- 10+ years work experience; 8+ years in Internet application development
- Advanced knowledge of C++, SQL, XML, .NET and JavaScript
- Knowledge of ActionScript and Visual Basic a plus
- Excellent team leadership
- Ability to thrive in a start-up environment
- Excellent communication skills
