Our company is a stealth mode start-up venture backed by world-class venture capital whose remarkable new technology introduces a new era of powerful networking services that deliver tangible unique benefits to customers investing in digital video as their main communication vehicle.
Reporting to a CEO experienced with startups and leading global teams, this innovative company is actively looking for a hands-on, innovative startup-experienced professional to join a core “A” team made up of the VP of Engineering and VP of Business Development and Strategic Alliances and experienced engineers.
The VP of Product Marketing will be responsible for all Product Management and Marketing related activities, including product and services roadmap, competitive positioning and differentiation, strategic launch of the company, evangelizing our value proposition, and customer and channel realted activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist the engineering team with feature prioritization, product requirements and schedule definition based on market knowledge and customer and channel input.
* Use knowledge of and expertise in the competitive video content and distribution market landscape to develop a unique and compelling marketing plan.
* Assist executive team in defining and implementing services portfolio, value pricing and financial goals for short and long range plans.
* Develop and maintain product and company positioning, value proposition and differentiation and generate corresponding white papers and data sheets.
* Assist strategic alliances and market development personnel with outbound customer-facing activities, including providing technical support.
* Plan and implement go-to-market strategies for program launches and promotion, including market segmentation, regional vs. global introduction, product naming, channel strategies, market influencer programs, competitive positioning and developing program specific marketing collateral, presentations and sales materials.
* Represent the company with the media and with strategic partners and customers.
* Establish “Best Practices” methodologies in the areas of market definition, research, trend tracking and winning strategies.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* 10+ years of success in creating, delivering and launching services that quickly gained traction with top tier customers in various verticals.
* Strong technical background in the areas of networking, storage and content distribution. Video distribution and online advertising know-how is a plus.
* Background and hands-on expertise with content distribution, digital media and/or online advertising markets
* Track record in product definition processes that are customer centric and channel sensitive.
* Track record in product positioning within a competitive landscape and expertise in launching products, capturing customers and creating high customer loyalty ratio.
* Experience with developing product and company branding campaigns, product marketing collateral and sales tools.
* Excellent ability to interface with and influence customers and partners, decision-makers and market influencers.
* Established network of Web 2.0 contacts (e.g., Google, Yahoo, YouTube), traditional content providers (e.g., Time Warner, Disney and television networks), global media distributors (e.g., Murdock News Corp, Virgin Media, Viacom) and cable and satellite media giants in China and India.
* Startup experience required, successful exit strategies a plus.
* Problem solver able to help address early stage technology choices, overcome obstacles and balance features against time to market and performance dynamics.
* Ability to express opinions and drive agreement with other members of the executive management team who may have differing opinions.
* Exceptional communication skills.
EDUCATION:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
* MBA a plus.
