By all accounts the JibJab founders are cool guys and they have made a lot of coin off their online comedy biz. With all the new humor sites coming online JibJab has some serious competition so if you do the interview you should push to be convinced that these guys can keep the laughs coming.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION
JibJab Media Inc. is a branded web-based comedy network that creates, produces and distributes original and third-party digital programming. Founded in 1999, the company is best known for its viral political satires, including the global phenomena “This Land”. The company has had distribution partnerships with Yahoo!, MSN Video, AtomFilms and Verizon Wireless and has premiered nine of its original productions on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”. In addition, it has produced branded entertainment for clients such as Anheuser-Busch, Verizon Wireless, Sony and Kraft. Today, JibJab has 25 employees and dozens of writers and artists in its creative talent network, and is funded by Polaris Venture Partners.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The VP, Business Development will report to the President of JibJab Media Inc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The VP, Business Development will be responsible for:
- Leveraging the Company’s premium brand to source and execute distribution partnerships that extend our audience reach and drive revenue;
- Identifying new sources of revenues by constantly assessing new market opportunities and target markets;
- Managing all phases of the partner relationship, from initial outreach to ongoing account management;
- Assisting partners with marketing planning, advise on best practices, cross-selling and up-selling to drive incremental revenues;
- Coordinating with product and technology teams to develop third-party offerings for both new and existing partners and developing roll-out / integration strategies;
- Working with company’s counsel to negotiate contracts and close deals;
- Modeling economics of prospective deals and tracking performance metrics for existing relationships;
- Gathering intelligence on both customers and competitors;
- Writing proposals and making presentations; and
- Consistently meeting revenue and distribution targets.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS & EXPERIENCE:
The ideal VP, Business Development candidate has the following characteristics:
- An energetic, entrepreneurial thinker who is highly competitive and aggressive about the identification, pursuit and closing of revenue opportunities;
- A proven track record of architecting and negotiating innovative distribution and monetization deals;
- Experience executing online and/or mobile distribution deals required;
- Has high-level relationships at media, entertainment and internet companies;
- Comfortable setting targets and being held accountable for performance;
- A creative thinker who can solve problems in non-obvious ways to get deals done;
- Is passionate about pursuing opportunities at the cross-section of media and technology;
- A cross-disciplinary, strategic thinker who understands the brand implications of prospective relationships and is not myopic about “closing deals”;
- Has a very strong work ethic and is willing and able to roll up his/her sleeves and pinch hit to get the job done;
- An excellent communicator with the ability to work effectively at all levels within the organization;
- Impeccable attention to detail and planning along with a process-driven approach towards achieving objectives;
- Experience at an early stage company is preferred; and
- The absolute highest level of personal and professional integrity is required.
EDUCATION:
An undergraduate degree is required. An advanced degree such as an MBA is preferred.
COMPENSATION:
A competitive compensation package will be offered to the successful candidate. The compensation package will include a base, bonus and equity.
