Sales VP For Sand Mateo's Enterprise Ajax Startup Backbase

Backbase calls itself the number 1 AJAX enterprise software company. Its privately held and was launched in 2003 with offices in San Mateo and Amsterdam and has over 100 employees. We haven't come across backbase before. We don't see any funding announcement, but it looks like it was founded in Amerstdam. It is currently run by Dutch founders and CEO. It does seem that 2007 will be the year for enterprise AJAX .

The VP Sales leads the direct sales organization for Backbase in the USA and Canada. You will be accountable for the achievement of the territory’s sale quota, effective pricing and margin sustainability, and lead generation and qualification (jointly with Marketing), and the acquisition, development and retention of productive sales talent. Initially you will lead a team consisting of 4 Sales Executives and 2 Sales Engineers. We expect you to focus on aggressively growing our business and in parallel expand our sales team. You report to the CEO and are a member of the North America management team. Together with the team you will drive the establishment and execution of the overall regional sales strategy. The position requires both proven entrepreneurial and strategic sales skills as well as hands-on closing the deal qualities: a large portion of your time will effectively manage your time and focus on high probability opportunities and negotiate and close major deals with a focus on customer satisfaction.

You have:

# A passion for innovative software companies
# 10+yrs experience in Direct Sales in software companies
# 5+ yrs experience in managing regional or national sales teams
# Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
# A Talent for establishing credibility and closing six figure deals
# Experience with managing a pre-sales and sales team
# Experience and discipline using Salesforce.com or other SFA solutions
# Pipeline management
# A hands-on and proactive mentality
# Enough technical savvy to establish credibility with IT buyers
# Excellent communication skills
# Presentation experience
# Leadership skills
# Desire and ability to work in a fast paced environment with a significant amount of autonomy
