An innovative software provider develops platform based solutions, predominately within the mobile device marketplace. Specialising in making software quicker to build and easier to use you will take overall responsibility for managing and defining the product strategy and roadmap.
With offices covering US, Europe and Asia, coupled with continual growth over the past 12 years with in excess of 40,000 customers, you will be instrumental defining the success of this aspect of the business, being the spokesperson to the marketplace.
The Role
Such a unique opportunity requires a unique individual with significant product management experience within the software development tools environment. The Vice President of Products will be a member of the executive team will report directly to the co-CEO. This person will have proven experience in establishing a vision and roadmap for development tools and the ability to articulate that vision to the customer and to the investment community. He or she will also have experience in multi-national, highly distributed business structures.
Specific Duties:
* Ensure that the product strategy, product development, marketing and sales plan are all aligned.
* Raise product strategy, planning and implementation to the next level of corporate maturity.
* Help to continue the shift from an engineering-centric company to a business-centric one.
* Ensure that products are aligned with the needs of the customers.
* Provide vision and strategic direction for products.
* Create a strong rapport with the engineering team and gain their respect.
* Represent products to the customer community.
* Manage and support key partnerships with strategic customers that will enhance the product offerings through collaborative development programs.
* Drive and develop business cases to justify the development of new products and enhancements.
Essential Requirements:
* Extensive experience in product management at the senior level in a multi-national organization.
* Direct P&L experience.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. The right candidate will possess the confidence and persuasive capabilities of a sales person as those skills will be required within the customer and internal team environment.
* Excellent customer management skills; including diplomacy and relationship development.
* A builder of good internal relationships - someone who can work laterally across an organization and build bridges with sales, support, and the development organization.
* A non-bureaucrat who is comfortable in an extreme programming environment.
* A great communicator who is able to create and articulate a vision, and then get buy- in across the organization.
* Excellent business skills and the ability to identify customer requirements and articulate solutions.
Desirable:
* Extensive experience in software tools development, strategy/product management or consulting.
* Proficient understanding of Java and Linux products(must have a strong technical background).
* Someone with an affinity for different cultures and an ability to work throughout the global community.
* Someone who strives for personal and organizational excellence.
