CFO For VC-backed (Troy, NY-based Flatburger
Troy, NY's Flatburger says it is "currently completing a Series A financing." Current investors are Amplifier Venture Partners and Intersouth Parnters which put in $1.75M in seed funding a year ago.
Flatburger is building a marketplace where modular software creators and consumers can sell and assemble pieces of applications, web sites and hosting solutions

The company's co-founder and Chairman, Bob Smith, was GM of AOL's community programming operations back in the early '90s. There are two other founders.

Description: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will be responsible for Global Finance.
Flatburger is an early stage software company currently completing a Series A financing. The right candidate will need to be comfortable in an intense, early stage, pre-revenue, start up environment.
Remember that in an early stage environment, you will be wearing many hats, as we all do.
We are seeking a candidate demonstrating recent experience working with venture financed start-ups. We are also seeking a candidate experienced in the software industry with an understanding of “application service provider” business models.
There are five strategic areas of responsibility for the CFO:
1. Budgeting, Planning, & Analytics
• Management of budgeting process.
• Constant planning, budgeting and review of revenue models
• Generation of Global and business-unit forecasting capability and regular forecasts.
• Provide input into key strategic decisions concerning customer prioritization and pricing.
2. Financial Operations
• You will need to be ready to take a very “hands on” role in performing daily check writing and administrative tasks, as well as managing the administrative side of human resource functions
• Develop and implement the strategy, functions, initiatives, and activities that support the company's strategic plan.
3. Investor Relations
• Work with the CEO and management team in preparing regular communications.
• Interact directly with our venture capital firms to serve their reporting and communication needs.
• Take responsibility for Board communications and record keeping functions
5. Tax and Treasury
• Evaluation of and advisement on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies, and regulatory interactions.
Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, energetic finance professional with a minimum of 10 years experience, with the last 5 years in management or senior management roles.
Experience and competencies will include:
• Proven experience dealing with complex business issues and a strong understanding of the software business.
• Outstanding leadership skills
• Experience working collaboratively with other senior executives on business issues.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
• High-energy, team-oriented, collaborative individual with strong decision making skills and a focus on results.
• Management style which encourages open expression of ideas and opinions and a full discussion of differing points of view.
• Finance and/or business related degree; MBA preferred, but not required.
• Experience in assessing emerging and competitive business models.
• Career experience with start-ups or fast-growing businesses.
