CEO At DC-based Rental Search Startup Hotpads

Hotpads is looking for a CEO (its first) who would need to relocate to Washington DC. The company has raised angel funding. The Investment Group of Santa Barbara invested $300K in seed funding in real estate search/map mashup Hotpads. The founders plan to raise $800K more from angel investors.

Hotpads says it will make most of its money by highlighting listings from paying apartments. It also generates revenue from Adsense.

HotPads.com, a 2 year old venture capital backed company, is looking for an experienced executive to lead the company's next phase of growth to become a leading real estate consumer destination. We are looking for an experienced professional that has the vision, network, and skill set to work with a dynamic young team to build a successful company.
HotPads is a map-based housing search engine, enabling users to advertise and search for rental housing using proprietary map-based search. We are building a brand and technology platform that is positioned to become "The Place to Find Your Place." HotPads is based in the vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Below is a list of characteristics of the ideal CEO we see for HotPads:
Must Haves:
-Leadership experience in an internet media company.
-One or more of the following three attributes:
1)Practical marketing experience including press strategy/outreach, search engine marketing, and viral marketing.
2)Practical experience building a business including formulating and implementing revenue models, a strategic plan, and financial oversight (spending, conserving, and raising).
3)Experience working with software teams, and ability to predict (or at least understand) development complexity and time requirements.
-Startup experience, knowing both the strengths and limitations of an early-stage company
-The strategic vision to coordinate technology development with marketing/pr and sales efforts
-Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability and desire to work with a young and energetic staff.
-Strong communication skills, being able to communicate the strategic plan to staff and investors and serve as a spokesperson for the company.
-Strong network of individuals at Internet, Media, and/or Real Estate companies.
-General knowledge of both first generation internet companies and Web 2.0 companies/applications.
Should have (or willing to acquire):
-Strong understanding of the real estate search and advertising landscape.
