Zonder calls itself an an early-stage, VC-backed consumer Internet company led by former search engine executives. (CEO Bob Barnes was VP Business Development at Enhance Interactive - ah-ha.com). The site promotes privately-owned vacation rental properties both online and offline. They need a BD head to get better distribution. We can't find anything on who their investors are or how much was put in so fire away on those questions.

BOUT ZONDER
With masses of baby boomers entering retirement, the vacation rental industry is rapidly gaining traction. Through our platform travel agents, retailers, and direct consumers can access thousands of vacation rental properties worldwide. On our consumer site, www.zonder.com, travelers search, find, and book in real-time using their credit card.

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a strong and talented VP of Business Development to help shape and execute our distribution strategy. This will include building relationships with key travel outlets and agencies in addition to building direct consumer traffic. In this role, you will spearhead strategic relationships on both the inventory and distribution sides. You will be responsible for building a business development organization to execute on the company’s strategic initiatives.

The right candidate has a proven track record of identifying, closing and developing strategic relationships with top-tier travel and/or search companies within the travel and/or consumer Internet space. A strong understanding of online content syndication/distribution is desirable. We’re after a self-driven, strategic thinker with entrepreneurial spirit who gets the job done!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Identify and build distribution relationships with third-party travel outlets (online and offline)
• Build scalable relationships with large travel agencies to drive bookings
• Establish long-term relationships with travel suppliers and software vendors
• Identify new opportunities/revenue streams and execute new business strategies
• Build and manage a team of business development executives to drive new business
• Negotiate deal terms with suppliers and partners
• Work with VP of Marketing to execute on the company’s marketing initiatives
• Lead third-party traffic acquisition process for consumer websites to achieve traffic goals in the most cost-effective and efficient manner (unique visits, frequency of visits, time spent on sites)
• Manage ROI for and optimize all strategic relationships with direct accountability for results

QUALIFICATIONS
• Outstanding people person – a master at building strong enduring business relationships
• Expert deal-term and contract negotiation skills
• Prior experience in a consumer internet travel with a deep rolodex of travel industry contacts
• Proven expertise in building a high-performance business development organization with complete understanding of pipeline development and managing accountability
• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• 5-10 years of business development experience with a successful track record in sourcing, closing and managing key revenue-driving relationships with partners and competitors
• 4 year college degree required with an MBA or equivalent degree desirable
• Open, inclusive interpersonal communication style; ability to collaborate across functions
• Creativity and innovation with a focus on constant, measured improvement
• Team player with a positive high-energy, can-do attitude and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and work well under pressure and tight deadlines
