Seattle Online Search Play Medio Needs VP Product Marketing And Head of Ad Sales

Seattle's Medio Systems, a white-label mobile search and advertising solution, has received $30M in 2nd round funding from Accel Partners and returning investors Mohr Davidow Ventures, Frazier Technology Ventures, and Trilogy Equity Partners.

Medio's operator customers include Telus and Verizon Wireless and give them the full package of search and ad monetization. Medio's secret sauce is that it has recommendation and data mining techniques to deliver users relevant and personalized content.

The startup has open reqs for a number of tech positions as well as a couple of key management roles including VP Product Management and Head of Ad sales.

VP Product Marketing/Management

This individual will have responsibility for setting the strategic direction and creating the strategic plan and product roadmap for Medio’s products and services to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and revenue growth. He/she is responsible for obtaining executive team buy-in and the operation and implementation of these strategies, delivering high quality products and services according to schedule, and ensuring these products and services are properly launched to market. The VP of Product Marketing/Management will have complete product oversight from product concept through delivery and launch. This includes close interaction with the Development organization as well as working with the various marketing functions and management to achieve market adoption, customer satisfaction, revenue and profit goals.

This is a key executive leadership role that will drive strategic product planning to identify opportunities, prioritize and define associated strategies. The VP of Product Marketing/Management will be responsible for managing and coordinating input for market requirement documents (MRDs), product requirement documents (PRDs), product roadmaps, business cases, product positioning, schedules and feature requests.

We’re looking for a strategic thinker, a customer champion and a proven leader with incredibly strong communication and collaboration skills and ultimately a team-player who focuses on results. You must have proven experience in developing strategy and aligning product plans towards the execution of that strategy at an executive level.

You’ll be expected to lead product management in driving discovery from both a qualitative and quantitative context and to use that discovery to build solid, data driven business plans and strategies which include appropriate ROI and related business analysis. You must be highly skilled in developing those plans, including a mastery of producing high-quality MRDs, as well as in delivering and selling the company vision through all levels of management within the organization.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

* Define annual product plans and multi-year product strategies and roadmaps with clear objectives and long-term vision
* Coordinate and analyze market research to understand customer behavior, product satisfaction, and emerging business opportunities
* Identify product enhancements that balance a favorable return on investment with customer needs
* Assist Product Managers in assessing buy, build, partner decisions, and to serve as senior sponsor to all business partnerships leveraged within product line
* Work with Product Managers to develop business case justification for new products or material changes in current products
* Work with Product Managers, Program Managers and other development groups on a regular basis to ensure software releases are delivered accurately, timely and in full compliance with customer requirements
* Work with Product Marketing Managers to ensure the proper positioning of products within their target market and the effective launch of these products from both an internal and external perspective
* Collaborate with various departments to ensure product delivery and quality goals are achieved and maintained and that overall product strategy is aligned with company goals
* Define value positioning for products to assist other areas of the organization in marketing and positioning of the products
* Actively engage in customer-facing activities such as customer conferences, site visits and tradeshows and foster a customer focused culture within the product management organization

Requirements:

* Bachelors Degree required, MBA strongly preferred
* Must have 8 or more years experience in Product Marketing and Product Management with a customer focused organization
* Must have extensive understanding and experience with mobile ecosystem
* Must have at least 8 years experience leading the strategic direction of software product lines (consumer search or advertising applications preferred) with proven track record of financial growth
* Must have at least 6 years experience in the direct management of a team of product managers and product marketing managers focused on delivering high quality products on time, and properly launched to the marketplace
* Must have successful experience in directing high-quality, on-time product delivery comprised of product marketing, product management and development
* Technical understanding of at least one of these areas: analytics, search, advertising, mobile applications
* Ability to be hands-on (ie, can also write MRDs)
* Demonstrated ability to recruit and manage a senior team
