Operations VP For SF's MedVantage

These guys couldn't possibly have written a longer job description. They are based in the financial district of San Francisco and are on the hunt for a VP of operations. This looks like a sleepy job to us but whatever floats your boat.

Reporting Relationship:
The VP of Operations reports to the CEO.
Job Location:
Downtown San Francisco with 25% travel to Atlanta and client sites.
Summary Description of Duties:
The VP of Operations oversees company operations for Health Informatics, Customer Support, Administration, Planning, Training and other relevant day-to-day business operation functions. We are looking for an organized self-starter with excellent attention to detail and structure, and a team builder with proven managerial skills commensurate with this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
The VP of Operations (“VPO”) ensures that staff is well trained, guided by product road maps, internal work plans, knowledge-based tools, a performance objective system and management direction. The VPO creates the system and structure to ensure ongoing product innovation, research & development of analytic models including the creation and protection of intellectual property. The VPO develops, maintains, and oversees quality assurance for professional standards in corporate service functions, customer deliverables, and operational functions. The VPO oversees the expansion and management of company R & D and customer service support centers across the U.S. The VPO supports the CEO with company resource planning, client project planning, execution and oversight of client deliverables, recruitment and retention.
Specific responsibilities:
? Oversee daily activities of operations to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources; analyze and recommend part-time, flexible and full-time employee mix for operations, professional services and informatics.
? Sponsor and drive technology initiatives to streamline, redesign and automate operations and workflow, quality assurance, company knowledge bases, and staff performance.
? Ensure that staff is effectively utilized and leverage technology and internal knowledgebase.
? Support third party vendor relationships and coordination of company resources.
? Lead weekly, monthly and annual planning processes as appropriate.
? Keep CEO promptly and fully informed of all issues of material significance, and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action which may be taken.
? Perform all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned.
? Communicate areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned.
? Support the Company performance review and compensation system. Recommend salary / bonus adjustments, transfers, promotions and dismissals to the CEO.
? Ensure proper training of personnel assigned.
? Ensure company wide deployment and adoption of knowledge-based tools and training.
? Ensure development and oversight of professional standards for client deliverables and company work products.
? Ensure creation of company intellectual property and research and development is properly protected, catalogued, and documented for staff training, product management and engineering specification purposes.
? Work closely with Product Management and Professional Services to ensure that health informatics and analytic R & D results in applied product functionality required / desired by customers.
? Support the SVP of Sales in the expansion of professional services functions.
? Ensure that customer advisory groups are active, improve satisfaction, and seed continuing product innovation.
? Ensure security, HIPAA compliance, and confidentiality of company and client intellectual assets.
? Work with the CEO to foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximize employee morale and productivity (retreats, planning sessions, interdepartmental communication).
? Develop and maintain effective business relationships among Operations, Informatics, Product Management, Sales, Professional Services and Engineering departments.
? Responsible for multi-site office operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of ten years management experience in health plan operations, or operations research, or business intelligence or database software.
2. Demonstrated track record for building and managing operations and personnel from start-up to over 1,000 employees. This includes personnel management skills.
3. Ability to run multi-state operations and development centers.
4. Experience with deploying and maintaining knowledge-based systems and processes that support professional services, training, and R & D analytic and business rules management software.
5. Excellent project management skills, including skill in designing and implementing communication plans as part of project management.
6. Familiarity with software development and product life cycle management.
7. Masters level education preferred. Bachelors level required.
8. Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills, including rapport, poise and presence with executive leadership and all levels of staff.
9. An entrepreneurial spirit, exhibiting professionalism, high energy level, significant commitment, and demonstrated interest in growing the company.
10. Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision or direction.
11. A fast learner who continues to learn as solutions and industry dynamics change.
12. Experience with Internet standards and technologies. Proficient with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
13. Strategic thinker with ability to master details.
14. Willingness and ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
15. Accuracy and thoroughness in executing projects, procedures, and work.
16. A customer friendly and responsive attitude for internal and external parties.
17. Good negotiation, conflict management & customer service skills.
