PhotoShelter allows independent photographers & other imaging professionals to archive, distribute and sell their own images. PhotoShelter provides a viable alternative to legacy distribution and sales outlets, and is used by over 3,000 photographers worldwide. The company's stock is surely on the rise as a top player in this space - WireImage - was bought by Getty Images for $200M last week.
The company is run by Allen Murabayashi, CEO who was a founding employee and SVP of Engineering at HotJobs.com.

The VP of Marketing will be responsible for overseeing the brand development and strategy for PhotoShelter, and for aligning the marketing strategy and initiatives with the revenue objectives.
The ideal candidate has experience dealing with digital content distribution, particularly stock imagery and/or experience building and growing a large online marketplace.
Compensation will be base + stock options. Additional bonuses will be based upon performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Define and evolve our overall go-to-market and marketing strategy
* Market highly disruptive products that displace traditional image sales mechanisms and buyer behavior
* Increase awareness of our company and our offerings with prospective and current customers, business partners, prospective employees, and the media
* Source and negotiate strategic marketing alliances and joint ventures with major players (e.g., photographic product companies, digital service providers).
* Define our pricing strategy and approach
* Act as the intermediary between senior management and the product and creative teams, providing directional guidance to these teams that aligns with senior management's vision and initiatives.
* Build and lead a team of internal marketing professionals who are responsible for strategic planning, product marketing, product management, customer service, and marketing communications.
* Manage external agencies as needed to support marketing programs (e.g., public relations, advertising, brand identity, customer relationship management)
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelors degree (in communications or marketing preferred) and MBA degree highly desirable
* Minimum 8 years of brand marketing and management experience with extensive media/new media/Internet exposure
* Experience in developing a highly successful Internet marketplace, particularly with media (still, video, audio)
* Experience in planning media, writing creative briefs, managing agency and interfacing with internal creative resources
* Experienced in web-based advertising and promotions
* Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills
* Strong analytical skills and sound judgment capability
* Strong leadership and team building experience
* Experience in rapid growth, hyper- competitive, fast paced environments
* The ability to spark creativity in, and motivate others, a willingness to work with ideas of any origin without losing focus on requirements for marketing, product and company success
* Strong budget management skills
* Experience in planning the marketing mix for go-to-market programs and in tracking their effectiveness
