Bazooked asks:
"Do you have technical thought-leadership in web search and categorization using techniques such as semantic analysis, link analysis and inferences drawn from user-based content? Do you understand the inner-workings of search and directory-building? Do you have a point-of-view on related matters such as sub-space clustering, ontology development, contextual/faceted/visual search?" We know we do not.

Do you have technical thought-leadership in web search and categorization using techniques such as semantic analysis, link analysis and inferences drawn from user-based content? Do you understand the inner-workings of search and directory-building? Do you have a point-of-view on related matters such as sub-space clustering, ontology development, contextual/faceted/visual search?

If so, this could be a very interesting ground-floor start-up opportunity.

Bazooked has a big vision for the web and a superb understanding of how to make it work. We think it's an excellent marriage of the spirit of web 1.0 with the lessons of web 2.0. We are not a search company, but instead an application that views search as a service into something just as big and valuable for the user experience on the web.

We are looking for technical leadership to join the team. We need one candidate who fits the following profile, but if you work with someone in a pair, that's also good and perhaps better. We will also consider individuals who want to get involved part-time if that makes sense.

Appropriate candidates will meet the following criteria.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated history of in-depth algorithm design and analysis
- Expertise in web data mining, information retrieval and content discovery
- Expertise in machine learning and natural language processing
- Good understanding of software architecture and Object Oriented design.

- Ability to think abstractly and strong framework orientation
- Facile with both the research and development aspects of Computer Sciences
- MS or PH.D. with research in related areas

- Creative ability and strong track-record of innovation
- Curious, self-starter; motivated to constantly tinker with systems and applications
- Independent thinker with healthy degree of individualism
- Can-do, inspirational attitude
- Risk-taker w/ readiness to swing for the fences

Plus

You are also really interested in the following topics:

- Directory-building of web content for dynamic needs.
- Designing highly scalable and high performance search technology.
- Defining the next-generation of relevance in search and classification systems.
- Different approaches for content clustering and hierarchical content structures.
- How the best of folksonomy and taxonomy may be leveraged or merged. Maybe a folksy taxonomy?
- How social media, especially blogs, help content categorization beyond tags.
- How traditional search algorithms might progress to factor in user-based categorization to supplement existing approaches.

Bazooked is doing very interesting work to introduce a new form of content aggregation. The company will be angel-funded and is working on product development specifications right now. The company is founded by an experienced entrepreneur and web 1.0 veteran who has the insight and contacts to position Bazooked for success.
