3i Venture Capital Associate Job Description
3i is seeking pre-MBA Associates with 2–3 years of total post-undergraduate experience to focus on late-stage technology venture capital investing in private companies. The positions are located in Menlo Park, California. Start date is Spring/Summer 2007. The Associates will work in a fast-paced, global team environment and will be responsible for supporting partners in deal sourcing, deal execution and portfolio management.
Associate Responsibilities:
· Deal sourcing - Sourcing high quality, late stage deal opportunities for the firm is the Associates’ first priority. Associates are expected to identify attractive industry sectors and specific companies for investment, proactively build relationships with target company entrepreneurs, and qualify new deal opportunities.
· Deal execution - Associates will work closely with Partners to engage in transactions by conducting due diligence on companies and markets, performing quantitative analysis and managing overall deal process.
· Portfolio management – Associates will assist the investment team on specific portfolio company projects as required.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
· 2–3 years of total work experience in one of the following disciplines with direct exposure to the technology industry:
* investment banking
* venture capital or private equity
* business development
· Exceptional communication and networking skills, a high level of maturity and good time management skills as deal sourcing is a critical success factor.
· Strong quantitative, analytical, due diligence and research skills with a preference for candidates with financial modelling experience in a deal transaction environment.
· Demonstrated experience and interest in the technology industry.
· Proactive attitude with solid business judgment.
