Director Digital Product At NBC Universal In NYC

This is a pretty senior postion reporting to NBCu's VP. You would work on some cool stuff: NBC.com, Bravotv.com, AccessHollywood.com, Scifi.com, USANetwork.com, Telemundo.com/Mun2.com, NBCsports.com, Olympics, Film, local and network news.

The down-side is we are guessing the politics there are hell.

Universal has an immediate opening in its Digital Media group in New York. Here is an opportunity to make a significant contribution as one of the world's best media and entertainment companies' leverages the digital medium as a cornerstone of its strategy in today's Internet age. The Digital Media group at NBC Universal is at the epicenter of the recently announced NBCU 2.0 initiative, which is focused on transitioning the company from traditional analog media to digital media leveraging Internet and wireless platforms. The opportunity also covers international responsibilities as the Digital Media group expands its focus outside of the U.S. starting in 2007.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Director, Digital Product Development is a leadership role in the Digital Media group of NBC Universal. Reporting directly to the VP, Digital Product Development, the person will be responsible for facilitating launch of new product initiatives and managing ongoing initiatives across all NBC Universal online properties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work closely with both internal and external corporate partners and internal divisions. Key partners include online Digital Media leadership for all NBCU properties including ..
• Interface with business leaders across NBCU properties to prepare business requirements and high-level product requirements for new initiatives.
• Primary interface with NBCU's internal technology team that is responsible for building new products to ensure
1) detailed product requirements are clearly defined to address business objectives,
2) agreed upon product requirements are strictly adhered to as product are built, and
3) product delivery schedule meets business objectives and goals.
• Manage all third party product partners.
• Remain current with industry trends and facilitate best practice sharing among NBCU site operators
• Facilitate weekly Digital Media Product Portfolio Council meetings. The Council consists of cross-functional leaders (e.g., NBCU online properties, strategy, finance, sales, technology, etc). It is a forum to review new initiatives, evaluate existing initiatives and prioritize the product portfolio across all NBCU online properties.
DESIRED:
• Extensive technical knowledge, including a strong understanding of emerging technologies and how they are evolving.
• Strong influence management experience and the demonstrated ability to drive change in groups that are not directly under their jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate large, highly matrixed, complex, dynamic organizations with multi-business lines.
• Experience managing via teamwork and collaboration, both within the department and via interaction with others.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans, which result in successful tactical implementation.
• Masters in Business Administration or Masters in Science


JOB REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS:
• The successful candidate will have at least 4 years executive level experience in leading both creative and strategic functions and initiatives for a high-volume website, or collection of websites, operating on a global scale.
• Bachelors' degree in science or engineering or at least 8 years of experience in product development in the consumer entertainment, Internet and/or the online media space.
