Latest Numbers Show Silicon Valley Added 30K Jobs Last Year; Wages Back Up
Joint Venture Silicon Valley says "Silicon Valley is back and its rebooting." Indeed 30K new jobs in a year is significant for a relatively small stretch of land. In 2000, only 2000 new jobs were created. The unemployment rate is now 4% down from 5%.
Moreover, average annual wages were up 4% to $74.302, although they are still down from the high point in 2000 when they hit $86,320.
Also of interest is that most of the job growth comes from smaller companies, rather than your Ciscos and HPs, which have been hiring in other geographies.
