Nasdaq-traded Unica Seeks Marketing VP In Boston HQ

Unica lays claim to leadership in Enterprise Marketing Management, so it had better be solid at marketing itself. Thus the company is looking for either a director or VP of internet marketing.
Your boss would be Carol Meyers, CMO, who was VP of the North American Business Group for Intel's Wide Area Network Systems Operations (formerly Shiva Corporation). The company's stock has not been setting any records of late and judging by the job description there will be a lot of pressure on this position to figure out how to get the revenues coming in.

seeks to win its market by understanding and delivering differentiated solutions to each of its constituent market segments and product markets. Reporting to the CMO, the head of marketing for the internet marketing segment will be responsible for driving the marketing function for Unica's web analytics and Internet marketing solutions.
Responsibilities
• Understand the assigned market segment: size, growth rate, competitive dynamics, demographics, buying process, stakeholders and personas.
• Ensure that Unica's web analytics business is in position to achieve revenue targets. For example, do we have adequate lead generation? Is our close rate/win rate adequate? What are trends for pricing and sales cycle in the segment? Etc.
• Drive lead generation efforts including webinars, PPC, trade shows, etc.
• Participate in relevant tradeshows, speaking opportunities, authoring of thought leadership white papers and by-lined articles, etc.
• Help define, assemble and bring to market differentiated solutions, comprising Unica products, partners, services, etc. that deliver the desired outcomes to the relevant jobs.
• Author positioning and messaging that couples Unica's solution to prospects' pain points and value drivers, and differentiates our offering from that of competitors. Drive understanding of product positioning and differentiation across the sales and marketing team, as well as, among all key influencers including industry analysts, other influencers, partners. Develop sales tools, demo content, RFP responses, etc.
• Actively support individual sales engagements.
• Uncover new business opportunities and new growth opportunities.
• Ensure that an international perspective is taken on all relevant activities.
Background
• Minimum 10 years experience in marketing, product marketing or product management for enterprise software. Preferred industry backgrounds (at least 3 yrs) include web analytics, marketing automation, analytics, MRM, CRM, and business intelligence.
• Thorough understanding of the marketing process (planning, lead generation, marcom, etc.)
• Strong listening, information gathering and empathy skills for uncovering and defining customer jobs, needs and outcomes.
• Demonstrated skills in successfully positioning and differentiating high tech, enterprise products. Proven ability to add value to the sales process through marketing, sales tools, training and presentation.
• Excellent communicator with proven ability to convey complex ideas simply and clearly in written, presentation and spoken formats
• Achiever who thrives in a cross-functional team environment and is readily adaptable to changing market and organizational needs
