"Haul ass. Kick ass. Repeat." At Casual game Start-up Bunchball Somewhere On the Peninsula

bunchball.png

"Bunchball is at the intersection of social networks and casual gaming." The company says they are building a small team of 10+ people

"People who can run fast, think creatively, and go deep in one area but contribute everywhere. We worked on this company for a long time on our own dime. We tried a lot of things, failed a lot of times, and learned a tremendous amount. We don't listen to the hype, we don't spend a lot of money, and we never stop trying things."

Bunchball just raised venture funding from Granite Ventures and closed a strategic investment by Adobe Ventures.
All positions are full-time and on-site somewhere between Redwood Shores, CA and Mountain View, CA, but will consider exceptional remote candidates.

Job openings:
- Client Software Engineer
- Creative Director
- Business Development/Sales
- Office Manager
- Client Software Engineer

Send resumes, portfolios, links to blogs, websites, etc. to jobs@bunchball.com

Client Software Engineer

You will own Bunchball's next generation of products and be focused primarily on the user-facing components (although you're more than welcome to work on the server side as well). You'll be crafting small, powerful client applications in Flash (ActionScript 2 and 3) for deployment across the web, mobile (Flash Lite 2.x) and desktop (Apollo). This is cutting edge work, my friend. You will also work on the interactive web applications/sites that support these new initiatives.

Bunchball clients are all written in Adobe Flash. If you don't already know it, you'll learn it. We love it.

Requirements:

Expert with object-oriented framework and design
Experience connecting to back-end services
Ability to write clean, coherent code
Ability to understand and master new technologies quickly
Thrive on developing innovative ideas and executing them
Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and to teach
Desired but not required:

Experience with Macromedia Flash
Experience with Flash Lite
Knowledge of Flash server products (Flash Media Server, Flex Data Services)
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and W3C DOM
AJAX and other "rich web" techniques
Experience implementing standards-based web application user interfaces
Ability to cleanly implement a UI across different browsers (IE6, Mozilla/Firefox, Safari)
Knowledge of PHP, Java or other web application languages

Creative Director
You will own Bunchball's game library, visual identity and the design of our next generation of products. Your job will be to decide what games to build and then enlist outside teams to create them under your watchful eye. You will also own the Bunchball brand, creating an identity and visual design language that can be used across our web and gaming products. You have the design chops to jump in yourself and get your hands dirty in Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator. Anything that end users see or interact with will go through you and meet your high (some might say impossible :) quality standards. You're also freakin' fast.

Requirements:

Experience producing games or other high-interactivity applications
Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash animation
Ability to manage onshore and offshore teams
Experience creating visual identities and design languages
Thrive on developing innovative ideas and executing them
Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and to teach
Desired but not required:

Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and W3C DOM
Knowledge of AJAX and other "rich web" techniques
Knowledge of ActionScript
A love of games

Business Development/Sales
Coffee is for closers and you're drowning in it, baby. You'll work with the CEO to identify potential customers and partners, make the initial contacts and the pitch, and close the deals. You can think strategically about revenue models and how best to meet client needs, and will develop and maintain ongoing client relationships. You'll also guide the business thinking and execution around our direct-to-consumer initiatives.

Requirements:

Proven experience in a business development, marketing or sales position in an Internet company
A track record of success in establishing client relationships
Excellent communication skills
A good network that you can use to reach potential customers and partners
Ability to work in a startup environment
Strong understanding of the Web 2.0 and new media spaces. So strong that you're already on Web 3.0
Desired but not required:

Experience in the casual gaming industry
The ability to say "Let's do lunch" with a straight face

Office Manager
You are an organized, self-directed, get-up-and-go person who wants to get in on the ground floor of a cool, fun startup and be the glue that holds the entire ship together. You're happy accepting new assignments and challenges, and are constantly seeking opportunities to grow your skill set and increase your value. You like people. You'll work with everyone in the company and will often be the first person clients interact with.

Requirements:

Ability to generate a good, upbeat atmosphere for coworkers and clients
Good people skills, fun to be around, and motivated
Thrive in an unstructured environment that requires the ability to learn quickly, take initiative and think on your feet
Ability to multi-task and handle multiple activities simultaneously
Expert in Microsoft Office
Detail-oriented
Very comfortable with the internet and technology in general
Willingness to be a guinea pig for new product testing. And pull in your friends.
Desired but not required:

Some basic knowledge of HTML
Some experience with handling payroll, benefits, accounts, etc.
You participate in one or more social networks
