New York's Zingy is looking for software developers for wireless apps to work its Fashion District HQ. Zingy is owned by a Japanese public company called For-side. Zingy claims a network of 120 mobile operators in more than 60 countries which turn to it for its stable of ring-tones and wall-paper. It's mainstay seems to be its licensing deals with the rights owners to 50 cent and various fly girls. Vindigo is a sister company.

Zingy, the leader in mobile media, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our downloadable applications team. The successful candidate will join the dynamic team of talented programmers responsible for successful products such as MapQuest Mobile, Plaxo Mobile Plus and Vindigo city guide. You will apply your Java and/or C++ programming skills to the BREW, J2ME and WAP environments to build the next generation of exciting products for mobile phones, PDA’s and smart phones.
This is a full-time position located in New York City. We will not pay relocation costs for this position and will give strong preference to candidates who already live in New York City metro area.
Responsibilities:
•Develop new, and support existing applications targeting a variety of wireless platforms, including BREW, J2ME and WAP
•Develop and implement interfaces to a variety of 3rd party content management systems and data feeds
•Support and enhance systems for user subscription management and integration with 3rd party billing systems
•Work with product managers to estimate and schedule project, as well as contribute to overall user interface design and product feature set
•Practice test driven development, continuous integration, refactoring, and iterative development
•Be a mentor and provide guidance to the junior programming staff
Qualifications:
•Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent software development experience
•5-7 years experience in software development
•Strong communication skills and ability to perform effectively in a demanding, team oriented environment
•Demonstrated leadership potential and eventual capacity to lead a team of engineers
•Experience with an on-line, database driven or transaction oriented site
•C++ and Java
•SQL database experience
•Linux proficiency
•Experience working in an environment that practices agile development
•Proficient in use of contemporary source code management systems including Subversion and CVS
Desired Qualifications:
•Mobile device and/or PDA application programming experience
•UI design experience or proclivity
•Experience working with 3rd party data feeds
•WAP experience (WML 1.x, WAP 2.0)
•BREW or J2ME experience
