Web 2.0 Application Developer
Position based in San Jose, CA

JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you interested in developing sticky and engaging social web applications? If you have experience developing interactive web sites with engaging community features, then we''d like to meet with you.

This position will report to the Director of Application Development in the Internet Marketing Solutions group, which is the development group supporting eBay''s Internet Marketing team. The Software Engineer will be responsible for partnering directly with eBay''s Natural Search (SEO) team to focus on developing i) methods [datafeeds, sitemaps files, API posts] and ii) applications [ innovative and compelling Web 2.0 community applications, leveraging eBay''s strong Community base] that will result in eBay content getting indexed by the major search engines.

Responsibilities will include:

o Partner with the Internet Marketing Natural Search team to understand their business requirements and needs to develop innovative solutions to a constantly evolving search engine optimization environment
o Design and develop production datafeed files to be submitted to the various search engines
o Coordinate engineering of production development for automated content submission via search engine APIs
o Rapidly prototype new web applications built on eBay''s API as a test-bed for new Community Content initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should have
1. 4+ years of web engineering experience using Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP or equivalents, such as Perl, Ruby on Rails, or JSP building secure, scalable web solutions. Strong database schema design, query construction, and ETL experience is a must.
2. Familiarity across a broad range of web-related technologies, such as APIs, search engines, and Ajax
3. Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate those requirements into well-designed solutions
4. Excellent communication and technical customer interface skills
5. BS degree in CS or equivalent
6. High self-motivation for success in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice to Have
7. Running your own community-oriented website
8. Experience with modern Web 2.0 UI & design, including JavaScript, Ajax, CSS, and Flash; Photoshop experience is also helpful.
9. Web application administration experience, including configuration, deployment, and monitoring of web applications.
