Job Description:
mtvU is looking for an experienced digital operations/online management professional to oversee all properties within mtvU’s portfolio, including mtvU.com, Digital College Publishing, mtvU Uber (broadband channel) and partner distribution sites. This person will report directly to the General Manager of mtvU and will serve on the mtvU Sr. Management Team. The VP has senior level experience in software development, web design, database administrators, online production, platform integration and overall emerging technologies.
Overall:
• Integrate mtvU, mtvU Uber and Digital College Publishing properties in a seamless manner, yet allow each to maintain their own brand identity and user experience
• Implement program upgrades and community functionality into the Digital College Publishing network of online sites.
• Manage an online team consisting of software developers, web designers, database administrators, content producers, and graphic designers.
• Extensive application development and project management experience in addition to solid systems knowledge, technical problem solving skills and project management skills.
• Establish and direct the strategic long-term goals, policies, priorities and procedures of a technology services department that comprises software developers, web designers and database administrators
• Participate in and manage the creation of creative assets such as banners, HTML pages/snippets, graphics, and dynamic media
• Serve as the mtvU lead for alternative digital distribution channels such as Xbox 360 and Microsoft MCE
• Work hand in hand with the Heads of Programming/Production, Affiliate Relations, and Marketing/Strategic Development to ensure joint objectives are implemented
• Ongoing partner management ensuring we are successfully achieving set targets
• Answer affiliate questions related to Digital College Publishing and partner sites, to ensure we are building profitable relationships
• Run regular activity, transaction, and performance reports and analyze results in order to make improvements
• Manage the search optimization process to ensure the highest level of results
• Performance reporting using behavioral and commerce tracking systems
• Develop and implement strategies and functionality to increase site traffic, user experience, and repeats
• Analyzing competitor activity to ensure the product offering and promotions are attractive
Required Qualifications/Skills
• Bachelor's degree with minimum of 5-7 years experience in managing online properties
• The following technical skills are required:
- High levels of proficiency in the design, architecture, and maintenance of complex, high capacity systems
- Working knowledge of ColdFusion, Mach II, FLEX, PHP, Microsoft SQL Server, Linux, Windows Server Systems, Flash, HTML, load balancers, and storage systems
- Exemplary problem solving skills are necessary for this position
- Background in the interpretation of web analytics and search engine optimization a plus
• Direct experience coordinating the proposal process, interacting with senior management and staff
• Experience with new business development as well as management of various accounts
• Strong understanding of emerging online technologies
• Strong written and oral communication skills, and previous staff management experience
