Last November, Navio raised $25.4M in Series B. Stefan Roever is President and CEO. He previously co-founded and was CEO of Brokat Technologies, which went public in 1998 on the German Market and later in 2001, Brokat was dually listed on the NASDAQ. That stock has since been de-listed.

Job Description

We are looking for a VP Engineering to join our growing development team in Cupertino, California. The individual will be a key member of the executive management team and will assume the lead role for developing Navio's core technology and applications. The successful candidate will assume significant responsibility for the success of our customer and consumer facing products including the rights-based commerce engine, AV Viewer and AV Catalog applications. As a senior member of the team, the candidate will bring a wealth of engineering and executive experience, and will direct all aspects of the product development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will provide executive-level management for a globally diverse engineering team, strong leadership with leading edge technology, and software architecture, design, and development expertise. As a major contributor, the candidate will participate in the research effort, and will assist the team in developing new technologies and incorporating the latest techniques into our development process.

The AV Commerce Suite is are core product and offers a powerful "publish once, sell anywhere" value proposition to content providers, media companies, mobile carriers, ISPs, and portals. The AV Commerce Suite makes it easy to catalog digital content, assign rights, package the content into attractive offers, and present the offers on any number of exciting venues including the web, mobile devices, set top boxes, and even physical media. The AV Commerce Suite also supports the most relevant set of payment methods, including digital cash, micro-payments, credit card, and mobile carrier billing, including split payment accounting and settlement for any transaction type. All this is possible with are innovative, patent-pending technology.

Job Requirements

5-10 years experience as a software engineer in a software and ASP company.
7 or more years experience in engineering management positions.
3 or more years experience in building ASP solutions and making them scale.
Experienced with software development methodologies and principles of software development.
Proven track record with building and managing strong software development teams.
Proven track record with product development and product release.
Strong technical skills, especially with software design and architecture.
Excellent ability to participate and cooperate in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with Java and J2EE.
Proficient with Web service and Service Oriented Architectures.
Ability to effectively sponsor/manage multiple software projects, and to take ownership of complex development efforts.
Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical designs.
Ability to identify, prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines.
Very strong problem solving skills.
Experience with mobile technologies a plus.
Experience with digital content a plus.
A Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Compensation: 130,000 to 170,000
