SF Stealth Co. Affinity Labs Needs Engineer

affinity labs logo2.png
Cocky entrepreneurs looking for a Director of Engineering in the SF Financial District HQ. These guys claim they built and sold a tech start-up for big dollars. They want someone with Java/Ruby chops. Not sure what the plan is but it is a consumer Internet play.

To apply, email: job-200461560@craigslist.org

Who are we? We are internet entrepreneurs with huge success under our belt.

How do we define success? Well - we built a company that:
a). has meaning – it is changing users and employee’s lives every day;
b). is very profitable - makes millions of dollars every month;
c). is full of cool people who enjoy working together;
d). is going to be around forever;

And… we sold it to a large successful public company for millions of dollars.

What is next for us? We are building another profitable business. Affinity Labs is our next consumer internet company. Business idea is simple, yet we think it is very elegant. Product will be very useful and impactfull. Goals are aggressive yet achievable. All the support elements (including substantial financial backing) are in place.

What will you get if you are in? Well, you will get competitive compensation and benefits plus very compelling equity plan. And then…then you will get to leave your ego behind and work on building the company. Everyone gets hands dirty. Team first – you second. Product first – you are second. Friends first – you are second. Company making money first – you’re second. You’re always second and that’s the rule for everyone in the company. You’ll get to be one of a few engineers/team leaders in US. You’ll get to work with very smart people. If you get in early, you’ll get to pick your reports/teammates. You’ll get to work long hours. You’ll get to have lots of fun. You’ll get to learn many new things about engineering, product, business in general and consumer internet business in particular.

What are we looking for? If you are an excellent engineer and a leader, we are looking for you.

Is being a good engineer enough to get in? No, it’s not. You also got to be enthusiastic, driven self-starter who loves people and start-up culture. A leader who is be able to communicate well and who doesn’t get frustrated easily. You will have (or will want to get) a skill of communicating/managing people many thousand miles away. You will have to be able to lead other engineers – so you are someone that other excellent engineers love. You should be able (or should be able to learn) to hire other great people.

Where are you guys? We are in downtown San Francisco.

What is the process of getting in? If you’re interested, please send us your resume. If we are interested, we will send you a couple of problems to solve. We then will look at your code (we prefer Java and/or Ruby, thank you very much) and if we like what we see, we will chat over the phone and/or invite you over for our first talk.

Life is too short and we want to spend it with people who can do great things and who we really like. If you share this approach and think that you qualify for this job – we encourage you to apply – this opportunity could change your life.
